Elton G. Hughes

Hastings resident Elton G. Hughes, 93, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.    

Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. There will be no burial held at this time. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Elton was born January 25, 1930, in Loup City, NE to Garnett and Florence (Miller) Hughes. On June 7, 1952, he married Thelma Andersen. They had two children from that union, Michael and Earl Hughes. Elton worked at several jobs, including Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company, Hastings Utilities, and Hastings Industries to name a few. He owned and operated Hughes Stables for many years until his health declined. Elton loved polka music, he traveled around the state to many dances.

Elton was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister, Joy; and brother, Reggie.
