Emaline Marie Einspahr was born October 7, 1933, and passed away in Hastings on June 9, 2026. She leaves behind Lamoine, her high school sweetheart and husband of 74 years. She attended a one-room, District 54 school in her youth and graduated from Trumbull High School in 1951.
Emaline and Lamoine started their married life living simply with little heat or plumbing. They made ends meet in part by selling eggs from the laying chickens gifted to them by Emaline’s parents as a wedding gift. They leased farmland, and with Emaline’s talent for managing their farm business, they enlarged their farm operations with the purchase of farmland.
While Lamoine worked at Burr Land Leveling, Emaline farmed the fields with a WD Allis Chalmers early on and later with her favorite 4020 John Deere. After the children were grown, she and Lamoine farmed together and laid more than 200 miles of underground pipe with B&E Excavating and later Einspahr Irrigation. Emaline had a commercial truck license and drove a white and gold Diamond Rio truck to haul grain and to tow the Cleveland Wheel Trencher used in Lamoine and Emaline’s underground pipe business.
For pleasure, Emaline learned Morse code along with Lamoine. They both obtained their ham radio licenses with call numbers WA∅DET and WA∅DLR. She served as President of Hastings Ham Radio Club. Post retirement, she and Lamoine enjoyed dancing and made many beautiful quilts for family and friends. She also knitted and crocheted. Gardening was a favorite activity, growing many roses and other flowers, in addition to indoor orchids that bloom prolifically.
Emaline also left behind children Richard, Michael (Cheryl), and Barbara Scheule (Doug); grandchildren James, Katherine Dea (Joel), Alexandra Einspahr-Williams (Geordan), Colin Scheule (Debbie), and Nathan Scheule (Sophia); and great-grandchildren LorElle, Kassidy, Ethan, Josephine, and Stephanie.
Proceeding her in death were her son David, parents Pauline and Adam Bott, in-laws Edna and Victor Einspahr, and additional friends and family.
Emaline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and “grandma the great.” She was a woman of many talents and a strong determination, with the motto “you can do anything you set your mind to.” She was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church and died in the faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 15, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastors Paul Dunbar and Josh Davis officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Wanda Township.
