Roseland resident, Eugene C. Parr, 71, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be Wednesday, December 19, 2007; 7:30 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 20, 2007; 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, both in Roseland, with Father Thomas Au officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18, 2007; 5PM-9PM & Wednesday, December 19, 2007; 9AM-4PM at the funeral home & 6:30 PM-9PM at the church. Memorial may be given to the family with a memorial to be established at a later date.
Mr. Parr was born March 9, 1936 near Holstein, Nebraska to Lawrence & Helen (Kaiser) Parr. He graduated from Roseland High School in 1953. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guard Reserves. He was employed at Yost Lumber in Hastings and Minden. On June 13, 1959, he married Marjorie Carl at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings. The couple moved to Minden in September of 1959, where Eugene was employed at the Minden Lumber Company. In 1961, the couple moved to the Juniata/Roseland area, where they lived & Eugene farmed. The couple moved into Roseland in 1992. Eugene was employed at Thermo King in Hastings for 12 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland, 3rd degree Knights of Columbus Council #10155 and of the Eagle's Club.
Mr. Parr was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary Parr, a sister, JoAnn Konen, sister-in-law, Carol Parr and three brothers-in-law, Lawrence 'Bud', Francis & Eugene Carl, two children, Michael & an infant daughter, Mary Margaret.
