Fedora I. Groenewold

Hastings resident Fedora I. Groenewold, 101, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.    

Requiem Eucharist will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Church in Hastings with The Very Reverend Katie Hargis officiating. Burial will be at St. Mark’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Columbarium in Hastings. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to the Masonic Children’s Home in Fremont, NE. Fedora was born February 8, 1922, in Drakesville, IA to Guy and Ethel (Pierrad) Humphrey. She graduated in 1938 from Mullen High School in Mullen, NE. Fedora taught at a small school for a few years and then owned and operated Chez’ Coulee beauty salon. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Church, worthy matron Eastern Star, and was past President of the Nebraska Hairdressers Association. Fedora enjoyed gardening, cooking, and hosting dinner parties.

Fedora was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother, Emery Humphrey; and sister, Grace Wiese.
