Gary N. Hylan

Gary N. Hylan, 58, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, at his home in Hastings.

The family will have a private service at a later date. 

Gary was born March 27, 1967, in Little Rock, AR to Bonnie (Van Dyke) Slansky and adopted by John Hylan. After graduating from Guide Rock High School in 1986 Gary served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He enjoyed his Autumn Park Community and watching Kansas City Chiefs and Nebraska Husker football. Gary was gifted at being able to speak four different foreign languages. 

He was known by all who met him as someone who would never hesitate to help the underdog or anyone in need. Gary lived his life with kindness, humility, and a deep sense of empathy — always putting others before himself. Whether offering a listening ear, lending a hand, or standing up for those who couldn’t, Gary showed us all what it meant to truly care.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, John Hylan.
