Gary Lee Prevette

Hastings resident Gary Lee Prevette, 82, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Bryan Medical Center East, Lincoln, NE.

Rosary will be at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Jeremy Hazuka and Father Greg Pawloski officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery. A book signing will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Gary was born on December 6, 1942, in Missouri to Johnnie and Viola (Golden) Prevette. A proud graduate of St. Cecilia High School, Class of 1961, Gary married the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Pawloski, on September 28, 1963, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Their union was one of deep faith, love, and dedication.

Gary worked as an electrician for ABC Electric and was a valued member of IBEW Local 265 before his retirement. Known for his steady hand and strong work ethic, he built a respected career while forming lifelong friendships along the way.

A devout Catholic, Gary remained a faithful member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church throughout his life. His commitment to his faith and family was evident in all he did.

Gary was a member of the Harlan Anglers Association; he loved hunting and fishing and especially spending time at the lake with his son Jim and grandkids. Gary will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Judy, his family, friends, and all who knew him. He was a man of quiet strength, deep integrity, and unwavering love.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; son, James “Jim” Prevette; infant daughter, Patricia; sister, Joyce Richardson; brother, Larry Prevett; and step-father, Francis Krovance.
