George Vap

April 28, 1922 — March 13, 1944

Hastings resident, George K. Vap, 85, of 914 Washington, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Saturday, December 15, 2007; 1:30 P.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, December 13, 2007; 1 P.M. - 9 P.M., Friday, December 14, 2007; 9 A.M. -9 P.M. and the funeral home and Saturday, December 15, 2007, 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Mr. Vap was born April 28, 1922 in Deweese, Nebraska to Joe & Mary Vap. He served in the United States Army during WWII from October 16, 1943 until January 11, 1946 and received a Purple Heart. He married his wife Annette on March 13, 1944. He moved to Hastings in 1946 and was a machinist for Hastings Irrigation Pipe Company. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, V.F.W. and American Legion. He loved to fish and hunt, enjoyed the outdoors, his family and Nebraska football.

Mr. Vap was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers and a grandson, Travis Vap.
