George Willey

Hastings resident, George G. Willey, 91, passed away, Friday, December 25, 2015 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Burial will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015; 10:00 A.M. in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorial service will follow the burial at 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015; 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings.

Mr. Willey was born January 9, 1924 in Grafton, Nebraska to Frank & Nell (Marsh) Willey. He graduated from Fairmont High School, Fairmont, Nebraska in 1941. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force from March 23, 1943 until April 21, 1946 on the island of Guam. He moved from Fairmont to Hastings, Nebraska in 1946. On August 17, 1946, he married Mary Ellen Menard in Mankato, Kansas and she preceded him in death on November 27, 2002. He was in sales all of his life, starting with Whistle Vess Bottling Company, Kitty Clover Potato Chip, Red Ball Freight Line, Standard Finance & Insurance Agency and Big G TV & Appliance. He was also a licensed Nebraska Real Estate Broker. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Christian Builders Sunday School, American Legion, V.F.W., Hastings Museum and a past member of Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Willey was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Ellen and two brothers, Harvey & Dean Willey.
