Harold Jay Barlett

Harvard resident Harold J. Bartlett, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, at Harvard United Church of Christ in Harvard, NE, with Rev. Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Harvard Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, January 2, from 3-7 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for a future designation. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Harold Jay was the fifth child born to Roy and Esther Barlett. He was born July 25, 1945, in Riverview, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm north of Bassett, Nebraska, before moving to Harvard in 1956. He attended Harvard Public School.

Harold proudly served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. He worked at T-L Irrigation and owned/operated Thrifty Superette in Harvard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to old country music, making homemade wine, and reloading ammunition for his family and friends.

Harold was the devoted father of daughters Rebecca Sue and Stacy Lynn. He was especially proud of his granddaughters, Emmy and Madelyn. He became a great-grandfather this year to grandson Liam Michael.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Stacy Barlett, brothers; Gene, Russell, Marvin, Larry, Don, Ken, and sister-in-law: Lavina Jean.
