Helen Cowles

Hastings resident, Helen L. Cowles, 96, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at The Kensington Senior Living Community, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Wednesday, October 14, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Rev. Thomas Murray and Rev. Larry Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church or to a memorial of Helen's family's choosing. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 13, 2015; 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Helen was born April 12, 1919 to Nicholas & Reba Mae (Lyle) Twyman on a farm near Clifton Hill, MO. She married Harry Cowles on March 26, 1943; he preceded her in death on January 28, 1998. Helen worked as a para-professional and teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Gary Cowles, who was killed in 1967 in Vietnam.
