Irma Sullivan

Former Hastings resident Irma H. Sullivan, 98, died Friday, February 15, 2019, at Christian Homes Healthcare Center, Holdrege, NE.

Memorial Service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 23, at Evangelical Free Church in Hastings with Pastor Matt Sass and Pastor Scott DeWitt officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to The Gideons (https://www.gideons.org/donate) or Christian Homes Healthcare Center of Holdrege.

Irma was born December 19, 1920, to Nels & Esther (Johnson) Hendricks at her parents’ home. She graduated from Holdrege High School and Cosmetology and Business School.

Irma had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing with a sextet touring the country following graduation. Later, she ran a beauty shop in Loomis prior to her marriage to Lowell Sullivan on October 27, 1946. They lived in Colorado and Nebraska throughout their married life.

Her great love for her Lord, her family, and others was demonstrated through her sewing, decorating, hearty laughter, coffeetimes, reading the Bible, her involvement with the Gideons and, most of all, her prayer life. Multitudes of people were impacted by her grateful heart and attitude.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell V. Sullivan; infant daughter, Kathy Bea; and brothers and spouses, Irving & Virginia Hendricks, Ivar & Harriett Hendricks, and Harlan & Helen Hendricks.
