Irvin Svoboda

Deweese resident, Irvin R. Svoboda, 86, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 2, 2016; 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Deweese with Father Thomas Bush officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Assumption Cemetery, Deweese. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016; 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Irvin was born April 29, 1929 in Deweese, Nebraska to Joseph F.M. & Stella (Karmazin) Svoboda. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1947. Irvin married Agnes Schneider on October 18, 1954; she preceded him in death on August 13, 2009. He was owner of Irv's Tavern from 1954 until 1960 and then farmed in rural Deweese until he retired. Irvin was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church where he served as a trustee on the church board, and was a member of Deweese Community Club and Fairfield Rural Fire Board.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes; brother, Tony Svoboda; sister, Julia Svoboda; and grandson, Matthew Furman.
