Irving "Irv" Vonderfecht

Hastings resident Irving L. “Irv” Vonderfecht, 88, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Providence Place, Hastings, NE.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 28, at Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene in Hastings with Pastor John Whitsett officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard will be in Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene or Crossroads Rescue Mission. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday with family present at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Irv was born May 11, 1930, in Franklin County just north of Campbell, NE to August & Louise (Kimle) Vonderfecht. He married Emma Lee Wittler on November 28, 1958; she preceded him in death on January 9, 2017. Irv served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a Sergeant.

Irv farmed for over 40 years, was the maintenance supervisor for Hastings Public Schools for 33 years and custodian at the Church of the Nazarene for 28 years. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and the Hastings Military Honor Guard.

Irv was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma Lee; one brother, David Vonderfecht; and two sisters, Darlene Jesse and Viola Scott.
