Janet M. Hunter, 86 of Lincoln, died July 30, 2026.

Janet was born on May 19, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA.

She graduated from Hastings College in Hastings Nebraska where she met and married R. Terry Hunter on August 6, 1963.

Janet taught elementary school in the Hastings Public Schools and was the society editor for the Hastings Tribune. She and Terry resided in Hastings for over 50 years and raised their two daughters there and formed lifelong friendships.

Janet was involved in PEO, enjoyed and volunteered in the arts and was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings.

She lived for the last 15 years in Lincoln where she has enjoyed establishing new friendships and time with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog - Jack.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Terry of 59 years. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Krick (Dan), and Kathryn Hoffmann (Jim), both Lincoln, six grandchildren and spouses and ten great-grandchildren.

Janet’s family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of The Grace Space and Aseracare Hospice for their exceptional care and support during her final days. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort to Janet and her loved ones.

A celebration of life service will take place on Monday, August 10th at 10 a.m. at Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home, 1225 Elm Street, Hastings, Nebraska.
