Joan Rose Schneider

Hastings resident Joan Rose Schnieder, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.    

 

Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 18 with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

 

Joan was born on May 28, 1934, in Lawrence, Nebraska to Julius and Lillian (Dusatko) Karmazin. Joan's life was marked by dedication and love for her family. After graduating from Lawrence High School, she embarked on a career that spanned over a decade at Russ's IGA as the Deli Manager. Her diligent work ethic and commitment to providing excellent service made her a cherished member of the team.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Joan was passionate about education. After completing her studies in high school, she taught at a one-room schoolhouse for a year. It was during this time that she developed a deep appreciation for the importance of nurturing young minds.

In 1951, Joan married Bernard C. Schneider and together relocated to Hastings. They raised five children with an abundance of love and care. They later divorced. She instilled values of kindness and compassion in her children that they carry with them today. She found great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. Joan cherished every moment shared with them and made countless lasting memories.


Joan kept up with the latest pop culture trends. She had an infectious spirit that drew people close to her. Her warmth and kindness shone through every interaction she had with friends and family members.

Amongst all of Joan's achievements, she considered her greatest blessings to be her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Their love and presence in her life brought her immeasurable joy. Joan's legacy lives on through each of them, as they continue to embody the values she held dear.

Joan Rose Schneider is survived by her children Diane (Steve) Barton of Lincoln NE, Dale (Judy) Schneider of Whitesboro, TX, Barbara (Rich) Renner of Cheyenne, WY, Nancy (Troy) Nathan of Sargent, NE, Randal (Eva) Schneider of Kenesaw, NE; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Lillian Karmazin; siblings Robert, Willard, and Eugene Karmazin, Mildred Svoboda, Loretta Ziggafoos, Rita Karmazin; grandson Preston Nathan; and great-granddaughter Bella Rose Snyder.
