John C. Marfisi

Hastings resident John C. Marfisi, 86, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at The Kensington, Hastings, NE.

Private memorial services will be at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Father Prageeth Chamara officiating. Private family burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to St. Michael’s Catholic Church. 

John was born on October 23, 1938, in Omaha, NE, he was the son of Anthony and Bernadine (Rouke) Marfisi. John graduated from Cathedral High School in 1957 and soon after answered the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with honor from 1957 to 1961 as a member of the military police.

Following his military service, John pursued higher education at Hastings College and later at the Milford campus. He built a successful career as an architect, working with Johnson Imperial Homes and later Westland Homes, where his designs and dedication left a lasting impact on the community.

On February 8, 1964, John married the love of his life, Judy Jurgena. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage before her passing on December 25, 2023. John will be remembered for his service, craftsmanship, and the deep devotion he held for his family.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy Marfisi; and brother, Larry Marfisi.
