Hastings resident JoyAnn (Egenes) Marsh, 78, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at her home.
Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Chad Power officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. A book signing will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Morrison Cancer Center in Hastings. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. JoyAnn was born on October 31, 1946, in Story City, IA, to Johnny and Lucille (House) Egenes. She graduated from Story City High School in 1964 and went on to build a meaningful life centered around faith, family, and service to others.
On April 6, 1974, JoyAnn married the love of her life, Raymond “Ray” Marsh, at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, IA. Three children were born to this union: Dan, Michael, and Katie. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and shared values.
In 1984 the family moved to Hastings where JoyAnn was a stay-at-home mom, later working at Marshalltown Instruments as an administrative assistant until her retirement. She had also worked at Iowa State University. Her professionalism, kindness, and dedication made a lasting impact on her colleagues and community.
A devoted member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings, JoyAnn lived her faith daily and touched the lives of many through her warmth and generosity.
JoyAnn enjoyed reading, bowling, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and sharing her love of Christmas. She enjoyed spoiling her grandkids.
JoyAnn was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Raymond Marsh Sr.; mother-in-law, Dorthea Marsh; infant son; and brother-in-law, Art Anderson.
