Hastings resident Julie Beth Spilinek, 66, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Julie requested that everyone attending the service wear casual or Husker attire. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 4, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Cancer Garden. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Julie was born on October 21, 1958, in Hastings, NE. Julie was the beloved daughter of M. James and Barbara K. (Jones) Zaroban. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1976 and continued her education at Wayne State College.
Julie dedicated over 30 years of her life to retail management at Kmart, where she built lasting friendships. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eagles Club.
Julie had several hobbies, including gardening, cooking, playing cards, bowling, playing the piano, and cheering on the Husker football team. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends, and her rescue dog Winnie.
She will be remembered for her generous spirit, how she put others first, and the warmth she brought to those around her.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tyson James Spilinek; and former spouse, Steven Spilinek.
