K. Emmons

Hastings resident, K. Franklin 'Frank' Emmons, 83, of 743 Madden Road, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Memorial service will be Saturday, July 11, 2009; 1:30 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Book signing will be on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Saturday, July 11, 2009, 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church or Hastings Public Library.

Mr. Emmons was born May 2, 1926 to Ralph L. & Lola M. (Kinney) Emmons in Center, Nebraska. He graduated from Lincoln High School and earned a Mechanical Engineer Degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He entered the United States Navy and served from 1944-1946. On August 17, 1947, he married Mary Jo Ashton. He worked for Bethlehem Steel in Lebanon, Pennsylvania from July 1948 until August 1952. He moved from Pennsylvania to Hastings, Nebraska in 1952 and was Foundry Superintendent for 31 years at Western Land Roller from August 1952 until February 1984 and from 1985 until his retirement in 1989, was the General Manager of Hastings Industries. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon, elder, trustee and on numerous committees. He was also a noon Rotarian, Life Master of American National Bridge Club and a member of Lochland Country Club. He was a past Mason and Demolay Dad. He enjoyed golfing and dancing.

Mr. Emmons was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
