Kathleen D. Stutesman

Hastings resident Kathleen D. “Kathy” Stutesman, 81, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings with Rev. Micah R. Gaunt officiating. A private family burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or Diabetes Association. She was born on February 8, 1944, in Campbell, NE, to Glenn "Pete" and Frieda (Schurmann) Arent.

Kathy graduated from Upland High School in 1962 and went on to attend Hastings Beauty School. On January 7, 1967, she married the love of her life, James E. "Jim" Stutesman, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hastings. Jim preceded her in death on January 11, 2022.

Kathy worked for many years at the Adams County Courthouse, where she was known for her dedication and warm presence. She retired from the Courthouse, leaving behind a legacy of service and kindness. A woman of strong faith, Kathy was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. “Jim” Stutesman; brother, Robert Arent; and sister-in-law, Judy Stutesman.
