Kelly Lynn (Timm) Olson was born to Vern and Sharon (Hart) Timm on the 4th of July 1969. Kelly made their family complete, and was brought home to an older sister, Nancy Ann. Vern and Sharon later divorced, Nancy and Kelly remained with their mother. Sharon’s mother, Margaret (Grothaus) Hart, was a significant member in Kelly’s childhood and she loved her grandmother dearly.

Kelly attended Hastings Public Schools, Hawthorne for grammar school and then Hastings Jr and Sr High. Kelly’s favorite subject was art, and throughout high school proved it was her craft. Kelly graduated in 1987. She was accepted to the Colorado Institute of Art and moved to Denver in the summer of 1989. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design.

In 1991, she met her husband, Gerald Allen Olson. They married on July 25, 1992 in Denver, Colorado. To this union 3 children were born, Kelsey Rae born June 30, 1993, Jacob Allen born November 25, 1995 both born in Denver and Lukas Lynn born June 22, 1997 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

They had made the move to Lincoln so that Kelly could be close to her grandfather, Raymond Laverne Hart (1917-1998) at the end of his life. He passed away in 1998. She was extremely proud of her grandfather. He had begun his career as a butcher and ended with his own business, Hart Meat Brokers.

Jerry and Kelly divorced and the children remained with her. She took great joy in raising her children. Sadly in 2003 she lost her mother and her grandmother within a week's time. She then could not bring herself to sell her childhood home and made the decision to move back to Hastings. She never remarried.

Kelly had an immense love of all dogs but particularly enjoyed the dachshund breed. She remained a steadfast lover of art and had a particularly good eye for photography. And her birthday made her a fierce patriot. Her love of fireworks was tremendous.

Her greatest joy in recent years was being a grandmother. Luke was the first to make her a grandmother on December 30, 2014, Ella Charlotte Lynn Olson. Jake’s daughter arrived on March 19, 2016, Kionna Lynn. Kelsey has added two more girls, Sharon Rae Coats on February 22, 2017 and Skylar Anne Coats on October 1, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her grandparents, and her beloved sister, Nancy.

Survivors include her father and step-mother Peggy, children, grandchildren, and a very long list of friends that thought of her as family.
