Hastings NE resident, Kenneth L. Gettner, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17th at Mary Lanning Health Care.

Ken was born on the family farm in Remsen, IA, on April 10, 1949. He was the youngest of 5 boys, born to William and Emma Gettner. His brother, Donnie (Maureen), 90, of Mason City, IA, is the last living brother. His brothers that proceeded him in death were Gene, Dick (Joanne), & Curt (Deb).

Ken grew up and graduated from Remsen High School in 1967 and married his high school sweetheart, Pat, of 57 years, on March 15, 1969. To this union, they became parents of a son Bob (Heather), and daughter, Tracy, of Lincoln, NE.

Ken also had several grandchildren: Preston of Hastings, Austin of Lincoln, NE, Travis (Elizabeth) of Murdock, NE, whom he cherished greatly.

Over the years, Ken was a salesman for Midwest Distributing, was an advertising director for the Hastings Tribune, and a dedicated salesman of Polaris at Paul Spady’s in Hastings Ne. He was always a hard worker and gave 100% in any job he pursued.

Ken loved watching Husker football and lady Husker volleyball. He especially enjoyed riding his scooter, “Walter”, with his wife, Pat, and her scooter, “Petunia” in the last years. He always enjoyed seeing his children and grandchildren when they came to visit.

He will be remembered for his black sunglasses and his nickname “Hollywood”, his great sense of humor, and his storytelling. He will be greatly missed by his family, and all who knew and loved him.

Ken chose cremation. A private family, celebration of life will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.
