Kevin L. Margritz, 52, of Giltner passed away at his home Saturday, December 20, 2025. Visitation will be on Friday, January 9, 2026, 5-7 p.m. with family present at Livingston Funeral Home in Hastings, NE. A memorial service celebrating Kevin’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at United Methodist Church, Trumbull with Pastor Dave Mendyk officiating. Interment will be held in Tilden, NE, at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
Kevin was born on October 15, 1973, to Thomas E. & Marilyn S. (James) Margritz in Red Cloud, Nebraska. He grew up in Harlan County, NE, and graduated from Wilcox High School in 1993. After graduation, Kevin attended CCC in Hastings, where he went on to receive his Associate’s Degree in Horticulture in 1995. On October 16, 2004, Kevin was united in marriage to Misti (Humphrey) Margritz, in which two daughters were born to this union, Wylee and Jordan.
Kevin was a cherished member of the United Methodist Church in Trumbull, Nebraska. His faith and trust in God are something to be inspired by. God was the rock in his life, allowing Him to guide and deepen his connections with those around him. Kevin found true joy in the simple pleasures of life - late night fishing, hunting, gathering around a campfire for a weekend of camping, blasting the country station while working on vehicles, and sharing laughter with friends and family. Kevin was very proud of his accomplishments, one of them being his long-time employment with Chief Ethanol Fuels in Hastings, NE. Starting in May of 1996 and spending almost 30 years with them, Kevin made lifelong friends and lasting connections with stories and laughter to share for years to come. Beyond his accomplishments and family life, Kevin’s true character shone through in the way he embraced each day.
Kevin is survived by his three daughters, Enola Margritz (mother, Marguerite Hersha) of Lake Jackson, TX, Wylee Margritz and Jordan Margritz (Misti Margritz) of Aurora, NE; his mother, Marilyn (James) Margritz of Kenesaw, NE; siblings and spouses, Kimberly & Ed Long of Kenesaw, NE, and Korinna & Cory Nash of Wilcox, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family member and friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Margritz; and his grandparents, Charles & Erma Jean “Jeanne” Margritz and Henry & Elberta James.
