Juniata resident Klara H. McLeod, 94, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Mary Lanning Heathcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be at 12:00 p.m., Monday, October 12 at Concordia Cemetery, rural Juniata, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, October 11 from 1-5 p.m. with the family present from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Hastings Memory Care or First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Klara was born on December 9, 1931, to Otto & Frieda (Ebersbach) Scheer in a sod house in rural Lincoln County, Nebraska. Klara graduated from Hershey High School in 1949 and continued her education at Hastings College for her degree in nursing, graduating in September of 1958. She first met her better half, William C. Mcleod while playing her accordion at the Hastings Armory. They later married on November 2, 1958 at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings. They had one son, William M. McLeod.
Klara was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to nursing as a registered nurse, caring for others with compassion and kindness. Throughout her life, Klara also worked as a grade schoolteacher, nursing educator, got her realtors license and embraced her role as a farm wife, contributing to her family and farm with dedication. She was a long-time member of the American Polled Hereford Association.
Klara was preceded in death by her parents Otto & Frieda; husband William; siblings, Mortiz Scheer, Anna Bish, Frieda Forsman, and Karl Scheer and daughter-in-law, Diane McLeod.
Klara is survived by her son, Willian M. McLeod; granddaughters & spouses, Pamala & Justin Gregg, Cassandra & Luke Bishard, & Karissa McLeod; great-grandchildren, Braxton Gregg, Landon Gregg, Ellianna Bishard, Lillian Bishard, Stetson Bishard, and Goldie Bishard; and sister, Flora Bolin.
