Republican City, NE resident Larry G. Hoggatt, 84, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024, at his home.

 

Memorial Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Livingston Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Darren Theesen officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, west of Glenvil, NE, following the service. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be designated at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Larry was born June 17, 1939, in Hastings, NE to John L.  & Helen J. (George) Hoggatt.  He graduated from Hastings High School in 1958. Larry married Lavera Theesen on December 11, 1960, at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE. He served in the Nebraska National Guard from 1956 to 1976, a number of those years as the company commander. 

 

Larry was a service technician for Beman’s Appliances in Hastings and owned and operated Larry’s Appliance Service in Hastings and Holdrege. He was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings, a member of the Eagles Club in Hastings, and the Elks Club in Holdrege.

 

Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to hunt quail and fish for Walleye. National Shoot to Retrieve was a passion of his, both as a competitor and as a judge. 

 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John & Helen Hoggatt; parents-in-law, Dick & Lena Theesen; sister, Shirley Rae Hoggatt; sister-in-law, Kathy Hoggatt; brothers-in-law, Herbert D. Theesen, Ordean J. Dravland, and Thomas Griess; and nephew, Randy Dack.
