Larry was born August 1, 1935, in Fremont, NE, to Clinton O. and Laura M. (Kull) Phillips. They moved to Hastings when Larry was very young. He graduated from Hastings High School and attended Hastings College before enlisting in the U.S. Army to serve his country in the Korean war. Larry met Patricia Ann (Menapace) Phillips while Patricia was completing her nursing studies. They were married on July 9, 1960, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Hastings and were blessed with three children – Ann, Mark and Michelle. Larry worked for U.S. Electrical Motors out of St. Louis for most of his career, selling irrigation motors to farmers in the Midwest. He retired as District Manager in 1998. Larry’s passion in life was the game of golf. If he wasn’t spending time with his family, then he most likely was playing golf with many friends at Southern Hills Country Club, where he was a long-time member. He was the 1962 Club Champion. He was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and YMCA. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, and will be remembered as a generous father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Ann Phillips; and brother, Duane Phillips.
