Larry Zeckser

Hastings resident, Larry "Zeke" David Zeckser, 68, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at Tiffany Square Care Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be Friday, July 26, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Benjamin Siebert officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery, rural Juniata, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Book signing and visitation will be Thursday, July 25, 2013; 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service on Friday at the church.

Larry Zeckser was born on September 9, 1944 to William "Bill" Zeckser and Lenora (Ruhter) Zeckser in Hastings, Nebraska. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1962. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church and later transferred to Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings. He was employed by General Heating and Air Conditioning after graduated and joined the Army National Guard Unit in Hastings from 1965-1969. He married Sherri Linden on May 27, 1967 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1968 they built their own home in Hastings, Nebraska. Then in 1973 they purchased General Heating and Air Conditioning and changed the name to Zeke's Heating and Air Conditioning. In 1977 they built a new shop located at 205 East E Street, building it themselves. They enjoyed going on carrier company sponsored trips to Cancun, Mexico, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and to Switzerland. Larry was a member of the Midwest Historical Detector's Club and became an avid treasure hunter, going to many hunts around the area and country. This included a trip to Australia with a group of guys in 1986.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Lenora (Ruhter) Zeckser; father, William "Bill" Zeckser; infant son; and brother-in-law, Ed Kuehn.
