Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Peper was born January 13, 1943, on the family farm outside Cowels, Nebraska, to Clarence and Alice (Brockman) Peper. He passed away on February 19, 2026, at his residence in Omaha, Nebraska.

Larry attended St. Cecilia Catholic School and then Hastings Senior High School in Hastings, Nebraska. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1966 as an Aviation Storekeeper, with tours aboard the USS Midway, USS Intrepid, USS Enterprise, and USS America.

In 1967, Larry married Joanne Karnes, and together they had two children. The couple later divorced. In 1983, he married Iris Bakken, with whom he shared 43 loving years.

Larry worked as a truck driver for the Keebler Company for 30 years, serving the greater Nebraska area. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. In his free time, he enjoyed camping and fishing at Harlan County Reservoir, where he found peace and enjoyment in the outdoors.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Iris (Bakken) Peper of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Kristie Peper Himmelberg of Lincoln, Nebraska; son Patrick (Stephanie) Peper of Queen Creek, Arizona; grandchildren Jeffrey (Rachael) Peper of Omaha, Nebraska, Samuel Himmelberg and Hannah Himmelberg of Lincoln, Nebraska, Alexis Peper and Madison Peper of Queen Creek, Arizona; and great-granddaughter Penelope Peper of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by five brothers: Darrell (Susan) Peper of Greeley, Colorado; Bob (Susan) Peper of Tucson, Arizona; Marvin (Marsha) Peper of San Mateo, California; Kenny (Connie) Peper of Hastings, Nebraska; Ron (Jody) Peper of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; sister Kathy Peper (Steve) Kloppenborg of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters-in-law Lynette (Joe) Kulzer of Beltrami, MN, Rose Bakken Ransate of Shevlin, MN, Charlotte Bakken of New Ipswich, NH, and many nieces and nephews.

Larry will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country and a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and a hardy laugh. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alice (Brockman) Peper; sister Jean (Peper) Ingram; brother-in-law Gary Ingram; brother Wayne Peper; sister-in-law Marilyn (Jurgena) Peper; parents-in-law Lloyd and Mildred Bakken; and brothers-in-law Earl Bakken, Dennis Bakken, and Brent Bakken.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 27, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Burial with military honors will be at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Lawrence, NE. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, February 27 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
