Leeland G. "Lee" Melvin

Hastings resident Leland G. “Lee” Melvin, 94, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at Perkins Pavillion – Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, NE.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings with Rev. Micah R. Gaunt officiating. Private family burial will be at Parkview Cemetery. A book signing will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, January 8, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Lee was born December 28, 1930, in Nuckolls County, NE, to Ervin and Pearl (Peters) Melvin. He graduated from Edgar High School in 1949. Lee married Viola Mosier on May 26, 1951. Lee worked for Abbott’s Dairy until they closed in 1984. He then started working for Adams County Roads Department until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement Lee started a small lawnmower repair business. Lee was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Viola Melvin; son, Gerald “Gary” Melvin; siblings, Hazel Powell, Vernon Melvin, Arlene Kort, Shirley Melvin, Bill Melvin.
