Linda Dianne Rose Swayze

Hastings resident Linda Dianne Rose Swayze, 76, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at The Kensington, Hastings, NE.

Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Chad Power officiating. Burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery in Blue Hill. Book signing will be 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, TBX4life Organization, or the United Pompe Foundation. Linda Dianne Rose Swayze was born on August 3, 1948, in Hastings, NE to Harold and Betty (Lamb) Rose. She grew up on a farm near Blue Hill, NE, where she loved to play with the farm animals, especially the chickens and sheep, and her favorite was making mud pies. She attended school in Blue Hill and graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1966. While working at Mary Lanning Hospital after high school, she met the love of her life, Larry Swayze. Larry and Linda were married on September 2, 1967, in Blue Hill, NE. From this union, Troy and Tammy were born. They began their married life in Blue Hill before moving to Hastings in 1974. It was there where they raised their family across the street from Chautauqua Park for nearly 50 years. Linda’s career path took her to Magnuson and Friend Insurance Company, where she worked for several years before becoming the Executive Secretary to Don Seaton at the Hastings Tribune for 25 years until her retirement in 2015. Linda loved spending her time making her yard and home beautiful and planting flowers. You would never have found a weed growing in her garden or dust in her kitchen. Linda will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Harold & Betty; husband of 57 years, Larry; in-laws, Ellsworth & Dorothy Swayze; brother-in-law, Mike Swayze; and nephew, Jeff Craft.
