Lois Hinrichs

January 17, 1935 — January 9, 2019

Glenvil area resident Lois L. Hinrichs, 83, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Providence Place, Hastings, NE.

Private family services and burial will be held with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Memorials may be given to Glenvil Cemetery Association or Manna Resort. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 13, with family present at the funeral home.

Lois was born January 17, 1935, in Hastings, NE to Chapin “Chick” & Gladys (Beckel) Phipps. She graduated from Glenvil High School. Lois married Dale D. Hinrichs on December 30, 1952, in Glenvil, NE. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Church Circle in Glenvil. Lois was a past member of Bluebonnets Extension Club in Fairfield.

Lois was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her family was everything to her. She always had time for her family, even though she took care of the garden, meals, house and flower gardens. She worked hard as a farmwife and often drove a truck at harvest. She made the best home-made bread, and we never ate boughten bread while growing up. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes and her famous tea-stained dolls.

She loved taking long walks and often went to the river with grandkids to look for arrowheads. Her “deer rides” with Dale were a frequent pastime. She also loved to go dancing with him and their friends in their younger years. She liked to sit outside in the evening with Dale and watch the sun go down.

She passed on her love of nature to her kids and grandkids. She would rather spend her days outside in her gardens. She was an avid birdwatcher and kept the birds and squirrels coming back to the feeders.

She lived her life with a strong faith, strong love, and strong convictions. She was never afraid to let somebody know how she felt about things. She’ll live on in our hearts, but the world is a little less without her. We love you.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ardis Bondegard; brother, Bill Phipps; grandson, Matt Hinrichs; six brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
