Roseland resident Lorene Rose Trausch, 89, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at CHI Health-St. Francis, Grand Island, NE.
Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland with Father Corey Harrison and Msgr. Dan Seiker officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery in Roseland. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. with family present on Sunday, June 23, at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. Open visitation will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. Visitation in Roseland will be one hour before the services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar Society in Roseland. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Lorene was born to John and Mary (Wewel) Miksch on September 5, 1934, in Stuart, NE. She attended Rural School District 183 through eighth grade and was employed by many local Stuart families as a home helper or babysitter.
Lorene moved to Hastings, NE in 1955. She was employed at Mode O’ Day sewing factory as a piecework seamstress for four and one-half years. On November 7, 1959, she married Francis Trausch and they lived in rural Roseland where they raised their family of three boys and one girl. Francis passed away in 2007.
Lorene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society. She led the rosary at daily and Sunday masses and served as President and Treasurer of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, and served on the Parish board and renovation committee. Lorene took care of the church and town flowers for many years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and was a member of Grandmothers and Auto Bowling leagues and a Pitch card club for many years.
Lorene made many quilts and afghans, 5,346 of them to needy families, donating them to the Ark, Healthy Beginnings, St. Giannas, CSS, Wellspring, and several family members.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis Trausch; son-in-law, James Long; sisters, Gertrude Bott, Delores Malone, and Helen Schantz, Mary Batterman, and Anna Bott; and two brothers, Martin Miksch and Bob Miksch.
