She graduated from Lincoln High School and The University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she met her future husband, Fred Teller. On March 13, 1949 she and Fred were married. The couple moved to Hastings in 1952 and fell in love with the city and the people. From the time they arrived in Hastings, they became part of the fabric of the community, offering time, service and leadership. Over the years Lorraine was active in the Mrs. Jaycees, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and P.E.O. She volunteered at the Hastings Museum and the Mary Lanning Hospital Auxiliary. Lorraine and Fred served on the committee to rebuild Fisher Fountain and were on the founding board of Leadership Hastings. The Tellers spent considerable time working with local arts organizations. Lorraine spent time on the board of the Hastings Symphony Orchestra, was a founding member of the Hastings Area Arts Council and worked on the Nebraska Cultural Endowment Advisory Council. For forty years, she served on the board of the Hastings Community Theatre doing anything and everything necessary to get the job done. For her lifelong work as a leader, organizer and mentor in the community, Lorraine was honored with the YWCA Tribute to Women. She and Fred received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award, the YMCA Arthritis Humanitarian Award, and the Leadership Hastings Alumni Award. In 1994 they were honored with the Hastings Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award and in 2006 were presented with the Thomas C. Woods III Partner in the Arts Award at the Nebraska Arts Council Governor's Arts Awards.
