Marie Borino
Hastings resident Anna “Marie” Borino, 95, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at Hastings Memory Care, in Hastings, NE. Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2026 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings with the family present. Memorials can be given to the Hastings Catholic Schools Foundation or Start Over Rover. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Marie was born June 24, 1930 in Hastings, Nebraska to Thomas and Rose (Weicker) Murphy. Marie was a lifetime member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Hastings, Nebraska. She graduated with honors from St. Cecilia Catholic School in Hastings, Nebraska in 1948. She married Jimmy J. Borino, Jr. on May 23, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2011. She was installed to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, (CDA), in High School, November 3, 1948 and proudly continued to serve over 77 years with the Regent of Court William McDonald CDA, as State Treasurer and other local positions. She was honored as CDA of the Year in 2015 for the Hastings Court. Marie was a member of St. Cecilia Altar Society, Eucharistic Adoration Program, Hastings Chamber of Commerce, Hastings YWCA, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Auxiliary and St. Cecilia Choir and was the past Treasurer for the Hastings Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was a loyal Nebraska Cornhusker football season ticket holder, attending all home games with Jimmy.
She began working after High School at the Hastings Dental Lab and Dr. Gilbert Weeland, DDS for five years. Then worked for Clarke Oil Company for 13 years. Retired from Morrison and Quirk Grain Corporation, Morrison Enterprises after 30 years of service, retiring on April 1, 1996.
Marie enjoyed dancing with her husband, Jimmy and spending time with their friends. She was an avid Bridge player and loved her dogs Buddy and Joey.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; Thomas and Rose Murphy and her husband; Jimmy J. Borino, Jr., beloved dog; Buddy.
