Hastings resident Mark Alan Doiel, 61, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 27, 2026, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska, with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 1, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with family present 5-7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family to be established at a later date. Cards and memorials can be mailed to the funeral home. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Mark was born on December 5, 1964, to Terry Doiel & Shirley (Nass) Kerns in Hastings, Nebraska. His father preceded in death on September 4, 1970, when he was 5. Mark was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1983. Mark worked at Mid-America Pump as a machinist until he retired due to his health.
He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, attending concerts and spending time with his faithful dogs. In recent years Mark was a caretaker for family and friends in need and was eager to help whenever asked. He will be missed by all.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents; father; and bonus father, Danny Kerns.
Mark is survived by his mother, Shirley Kerns; brother & spouse, Michael & Jan Doiel; sister and significant other, Michelle Purvis & Geoff Anderson; his best friend & significant other, Kim Fielder; aunt, Norma Jean Rose; and cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
