Marti was born June 23, 1932, in Connersville, Indiana, to Leland and Martha (Niblack) Schuster. The family later made their home in Nebraska. Marti graduated from Hastings High School in 1950. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1954, where she was a member of the AOPi Sorority. In 1955, Marti moved to Denver, Colorado, which became her lifelong home.

Marti dedicated more than three decades to serving others as a speech-language pathologist with the Denver Public Schools, a role she held from 1955 until her retirement in 1991. In addition to her professional work, she was deeply involved in school life and proudly served as a social chairman for school activities, bringing people together and enriching the community she loved.

Marti, a longtime member of PEO, had a passion for social gatherings and delighted in trying new restaurants and sharing meals with friends. She was known for her infectious personality, warm spirit, and unmistakable laugh that brought smiles to everyone around her. She loved jazz piano. Above all else, Marti cherished her family. Though she did not have children of her own, she shared a close and loving bond with her niece and nephew and their families, who were incredibly dear to her. Marti will be remembered for her kindness, her joy for life, and the many lives she touched through her work, friendships, and family.

Marti was preceded in death by her parents, and special friend Michael Dux.
