Hastings resident Marvin G Kindsfater, 88, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Mary Lanning Health Care in Hastings.
Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the Church, and burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Marvin was born September 12, 1937, in Hastings, NE to George and Timna (Gross) Kindsfater. He grew up in Hastings, graduating from Hastings High School in 1955. He served a four-year active duty enlistment in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960, stationed at March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA. He served there as a flightline aircraft mechanic, maintaining B-47 jet bombers with the 33rd Bombardment Squadron, with temporary alert duty assignments with uploaded B-47 Bombers at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska. After working a few years at Dutton Lainson Co. and ABC Electrical Co., he returned to school, completing an Architectural Drafting program of instruction at the Nebraska Vocational Technical School at Milford, NE in 1965. He then worked as an architectural designer, detailing building plans and editing specifications for a multitude of commercial buildings and housing projects, while employed with the architectural firms of Edgar W. Burgett and Assoc, Inc of Hastings until 1975, Richard Willis and Assoc., Inc of Grand Island until 1983 and finally the building firm of Johnson Imperial Homes, Co., Hastings Building Co. of Hastings until his retirement in 2010. He then worked part-time until 2018.
On March 23, 1985, he married Judy Mousel in Hastings, and they have remained in Hastings. Marvin’s hobbies included most of the maintenance of their vehicles, including restoration of the vintage “Mustangs”. He was a member of St Cecilia’s Catholic Church.
Marv was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eldon Kindsfater, and brothers-in-law: Harold Martson, James Probst, and Dale Mousel.
