Hastings resident, Mary Lou Wilson, 73, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at her home in Hastings, NE.
Rosary will be 10:00 A.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings, NE with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, NE. Book signing will be Friday, April 17, 2026, from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings, NE. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or Hastings Catholic Schools Endowment Fund. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Mary Lou was born on July 30,1952, in Hastings, NE, to Fran and Alice (Hanie) Roth. She attended both St. Cecilia Catholic School’s and graduated from Hastings High in 1970. She worked as a waitress for a couple of years then went to work for the Ammunition plant in Grand Island for a year. In 1973 she started working for the Dutton Lainson Company where she worked in their machine shop, then moved on to their tool room, then spent the rest of her time as a production scheduler. She retired from Dutton’s after 47 years of service. During her duties as a scheduler, she was also a member of APICS.
She and Ernie were united in marriage in 1981 in Hastings, NE. They have two children, John and Nick. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and Altar society, a past member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and past president of the Altar Society. She also helped with many organizations while her kids were in school.
She and her husband owned several homes in Hastings, NE. They enjoyed fixing them up, selling them and moving on to the next home. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at the lake and enjoyed both fishing and skiing. Later in life they bought a camper and did a little bit of traveling.
After retirement she loved getting up in the morning setting at the table watching her flowers and the neighbor’s flowers while reading her bible and spending time with the Lord. Her biggest treasures were spending time with the grandchildren. Mary Lou lived a life in love, family, friends and faith. All will miss her friendship. GO BIG RED!
She is survived by her husband and sons, John (in Omaha), Nick (Lynsse), and grandkids; Wyatt, Rose and Dutch (in Alabama), cousins and many special friends.
She was preceeded in death by her dog, Graci, mother, father, sister; Cathy and her daughter -in-law; Patty.
