Hastings

Meghan Leigh Hoshaw, 41, of Hastings, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2026, surrounded by love, following a courageous battle with metastatic colon cancer. Meghan was deeply woven into the fabric of her community as a dedicated professional, a wonderful wife, a loyal friend, and above all, a sports-loving mother whose cheers will still be heard by many for years to come.

Born and raised in Hastings, Nebraska, Meghan earned her degree in dental hygiene from Central Community College and later completed her bachelor's degree at Minnesota State University. Meghan began her career in Salina, Kansas, at New Horizons Dental in 2007 before moving to All Smiles Dental Care. In 2013, she returned to her hometown to build her life and career. She spent more than a decade serving her community as a compassionate and dedicated registered dental hygienist at local practices, including Lebsack Dental and Hastings Family Dental. Known for her warmth, gentle approach, and exceptional care, Meghan had a special gift for making patients feel comfortable, even helping the youngest children look forward to their dental visits.

Meghan's greatest joy and ultimate purpose was her family. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Derek Hoshaw, and was the proud, devoted mother of three beautiful children: Beckett (16), Ariah (14), and Elliott (5). Whether managing a busy household or cheering her children on as they reached new milestones, her love for them was unconditional and absolute.

When Meghan was diagnosed with cancer, her community rallied behind her, organizing the "Hands for the Hoshaws" benefit to reflect the incredible love and support she had given to so many throughout her life. Her journey was marked by profound bravery, resilience, and an unwavering spirit that inspired everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Derek; their three beloved children, Beckett, Ariah, and Elliott; her mother, Andrea Schropfer; her father-in-law, Don Hoshaw; her brother, Ethan Grabast (Jasmine); her sisters, Krista Sherick and Payton Berney (Cameron); and a wide circle of extended family, lifelong friends, and grateful patients.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lawrence Schropfer; her grandmother, Evelyn Grabast; her father, Tim Grabast; and her mother-in-law, Korena Hoshaw.

Meghan's legacy lives on in the family she cherished so fiercely, the friendships she treasured, and the countless lives she touched. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will remain with all who knew her.

A celebration of Meghan's life will be held on Friday, November 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska.
