Hastings resident Michael H. Favinger, 74, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Mary Lanning Healthcare..

Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 15, 2026, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Visitation will be at Butler Volland Funeral Home one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Michael was born May 5, 1952, in Red Cloud, NE, to Harold and Janice (Christensen) Favinger. Mike met the love of his life in 1981 at Minden Beef, where their story began and where they built a life together. He was known as a man who could rarely sit still, always happiest with a wrench in his hand and a project waiting in the garage. Mike loved working on cars and was constantly tinkering, fixing, and improving something for family or friends.

In his younger days, Mike enjoyed riding his Harley and embraced the freedom of the open road. He also had a competitive spirit and was proud to have been a Golden Gloves boxer, carrying the toughness and determination he learned in the ring throughout his life.
Mike will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his mechanical talents, his sense of humor, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents.
