Hastings resident Monica Dee Kennedy, 63, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at her home in Hastings, NE.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Monica was born August 20, 1963, in Hastings, NE, to Duane “Doug” and Kathryn (McCauley) Immel. She attended Hastings High School. She married Paul Kennedy on November 30, 1982, and to this union, two children were born: Travis and Dana.

Monica was a loving and caring woman who found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed doing crafts and spending time outdoors, especially camping and fishing. Monica had a special appreciation for the beauty of the Black Hills and enjoyed rock hunting and collecting during her adventures there.

She also loved raising farm animals and took pride in caring for them. Above all, Monica cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. They brought her great happiness, and she treasured the memories they made together. Monica will be remembered for her caring heart, her love of the outdoors, and the special place she held in the lives of her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruben and Rose Bott; parents, Doug and Kathryn Immel; brother, Brian Immel; granddaughter, Emilly Dee Kennedy; and grandson, Adam Piel.
