Patricia was born November 10, 1931, in Grand Island, NE, to Clarice Frank Hoffman and Mildred Bernice Wingert. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated in the class of “49”. While in high school she was a standard bearer for high school cadets. She also worked at the drive-in as a car hop on roller skates. She would ride Jack’s bicycle handlebars to work and he would pick her up after her shift. After graduating she worked for the credit bureau of Grand Island and the collection service business.
Pat was joined in marriage with Jack H. Sinnard, her junior high sweetheart on June 18, 1950. They were married in the Grand Island First United Methodist Church. They resided in Grand Island, then moved to North Platte and later back to Grand Island until 1960. They then moved to Wichita, KS and finally settled in Hastings, NE in 1961. To their union they were blessed with 3 sons; Michael Harlan, Terry H. and James Hunter.
Pat worked for 2 years for K&R industries as a secretary. She then became a stay-at-home mom raising her sons until 1979 when she started working at CCC Hastings campus as the administrative assistant for the Health Occupations. While there she earned 3 degrees associated with her occupation. Pat retired from the Student Success Department at the age of 90 after 43 years of service with tremendous gratitude for many friendships she had made at CCC throughout her long life.
Pat was ambitious and had many hobbies. She enjoyed knitting, crochet, bead work, needlepoint, sewing, adult coloring, sold decorated cakes and had read a wealth of books. She was an accomplished seamstress and taught Bishop’s sewing classes, made down coats and wedding dresses. It is believed her basement foundation was supported by her craft supplies. She was most proud of the Prayer Shawl ministries group at the First United Methodist Church. Hundreds of shawls were created with the ladies and given to those chosen to receive the blessings knit into the shawls. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star Aracia Chapter #39 and the Liederkrantz. Pat also served as a board member for the Hastings Federal Credit Union for many years.
She will always be remembered for her generosity, willingness to listen to a friend, sense of humor and her quick wit, and above all her love for her family, friends and her savior Jesus. Her grandchildren remembered her as “Grandma Pizza” as the family tradition was to go to Papa Ray’s pizza several times a month and on special events. She loved traveling with Jack and her family to her favorite sites; Laughlin, NV, Fort Robinson State Park, Chadron, NE, Fonner Park and countless trips to California to visit her loved ones and friends. Pat anticipated the day when she meets her Savior and is reunited with her family and friends in heaven.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Sinnard; parents, Clarice and Mildred Hoffman; parents-in-law, Willis and Edna Sinnard; brother-in-law, Thomas Sinnard; her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
