Phyllis Vollertsen

Juniata resident, Phyllis D. Vollertsen, 87, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Haven Home, Kenesaw, Nebraska.

Graveside services will be Saturday, March 3, 2012; 2:00 P.M. in Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Nebraska with Pastor Herbert E. Scott officiating. There will be no visitation; book signing will be Wednesday and Thursday; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family.

Phyllis was born October 6, 1924 in Johnson, Nebraska to John "Fred" & Minnie (Boellstorff) Goering. She attended Brock High School in Brock, Nebraska. Phyllis married Leroy F. Vollertsen on February 12, 1942 at Brock Methodist Church, Brock, Nebraska; he preceded her in death on February 24, 1997. Phyllis and Leroy moved to Juniata in the early 1990's from Nebraska City. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and can vegetables. She enjoyed her grandchildren as they grew up. She had a passion for coffee, bingo, canasta and people.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy F. Vollertsen; son-in-law, Don Hauptman; granddaughter, Inga Hauptman; two brothers; and three sisters.
