Ray Curtis Arnold, Jr

Trumbull resident Ray Curtis Arnold Jr, 100 1/2, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 17, at Trumbull Christian Church with Pastor Greg Swinney officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 17, with family, extended family, along with church family at Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m., with the family present 5-7 p.m. Sunday, August 16, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Ray was born January 23, 1926, to Ray Sr. & Matilda (Giger) Arnold in Trumbull, Nebraska. He went to a one-room country school, District 17, and graduated from Trumbull High School in 1943. Ray entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the infantry and anti-aircraft units in the Mid-Pacific until 1946. Ray married Marion Boyle on January 18, 1948. He was a lifetime farmer and Cattleman with his brothers Gerald and Gene.

Ray was a devoted member of Trumbull Christian Church, where he served faithfully as an elder, Sunday School teacher, and trustee. His faith and his love for Jesus were evident to anyone he came in contact with. He was a charter member of the Nebraska Charolais Association and dedicated many years to serving his community. Ray served on the township board and as a Justice of the Peace. He also served on the board of the Clay County Irrigation Association and was a member of the Clay County ASC Committee for nine years. His commitment to agriculture and his community continued through his service as a board member of the Inland Co-Op Oil Company and as a member of the Clay County Farming Board.

Ray also enjoyed being involved with his fellow community members. He served as secretary-treasurer of the Agricultural Bowling League for 15 years and was a proud member of the Hastings Choir of the Plains for 30 years. Ray loved fishing in his own pond and other places. Ray was an avid Husker volleyball fan.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lois and Roma; brothers, Max, Gerald, Gene, Eldon, and infant brother; son-in-law, Jerry Mustion; along with in-laws.

Ray is survived by his daughters & son-in-law, Kristene Mustion and Andrea & David Maynard; grandchildren & spouses, Nathaniel & Amanda Mustion, Angela & David Barber, Evan & Jenni Maynard, Eden & Nathaniel McClung, Jordan Mustion & fiancé, Sydney Thompson, and Maleesha Mustion; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene McWhirter; sister-in-law, Carold Arnold; along with numerous family members and friends.
