Robert Kent

Hastings resident, Robert B. 'Bob' Kent, 83, of The Kensington, 233 N. Hastings, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be Saturday, September, 29, 2007; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Burial will be at 1:30 P.M. at the Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield, Nebraska. Book signing will be Thursday, September 27, 2007; 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M., Friday, September 28, 2007; 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. and Saturday, September 28, 2007; 9:00 A.M. until service time. Memorials may be given to donor's choice.

Mr. Kent was born July 4, 1924 at Mountain Grove, Missouri to Oliver C. & Anna R. (Reese) Kent. He moved with his family to Hastings, Nebraska in 1934 and attended grade school and graduated from Hastings High School in 1942. He served in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific aboard P.T. boats from 1943 until 1945. On January 8, 1955, he married Betty L. Nixon and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2000. He operated oil stations and a land leveling company. Later he was manager of M & P Land Company & Midstate Industrial Company for 24 years before retiring in 1990.

Mr. Kent was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Betty L. Kent, two brothers and three sisters.
