Robert "Bob" Peterson

Hastings resident Robert Peterson, 88, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Hastings with Rev. Steven Peeler officiating. Burial with military rites at Loup Fork Cemetery near Dannebrog at 2:30 PM. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday with family present at Butler Volland Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Bob was born on October 19, 1930, to George and Lynda (Nelson) Peterson near Rice Lake, WI. He was baptized Christmas Eve of 1954 in San Antonio, TX. He served in the US Airforce from 1951 to 1959. Following his tour of duty, he attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS. He received his Bachelor’s Degree and worked for the Social Security Administration for 30 years.

Bob married Madeline (Petersen) Peterson on October 9, 1954, at Dannebrog, NE. They were blessed to be given 4 children: Theodore (Ted), David, Laura (Ken) Roberts, and Amy (John) Kerrins. They, in turn, blessed them with 4 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Bob was active in his church. He sang in the choir, served as council president, and pitched in wherever needed. He loved gardening and grew enough vegetables to share with family, friends and church family. The newest love of his life was his new great-grandson, Charlie. Their favorite activity was eating whipped cream together.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings; Maurice, Eleanor, Ivy, Ruby, Johnny, and Beatrice
