Ronald D. Classen

Hastings resident Ronald D. Classen, 82, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. The burial will be at Blue Valley Cemetery in Ayr. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans or Eagles Club. Ronald was born on March 7, 1943, in Adams County, NE, he was the son of Minie and Frieda (Johnson) Classen. He graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to build a successful life centered on hard work and family. Ronald was the proud owner and operator of A-1 Exterminating, where he built a reputation for honesty, integrity, and dedication to his customers.

Ronald married the love of his life in 1985, Barbara (Motley) Classen, with whom he shared many years of marriage until her passing on November 4, 2021. Their bond was a lasting testament to partnership and love.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, and quiet generosity. He was a man of few words but great character, and those who knew him will carry his memory with deep respect and affection.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Classen; daughter, Linda Pierce; and brother, Kenneth Classen.
