Ronald Elmer Kort

Hastings resident Ronald Elmer Kort, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Premier Estates, Kenesaw, NE.

Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings with Pastor Brian Weinkauf officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church. 

Ronald was born on August 5, 1941, in Hastings, NE to Elmer and Irene (Hueske) Kort. Ronald worked for many years in the maintenance department at Thermo King, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

On May 31, 1986, Ronald married Betty Jean Gambles at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hastings. They shared many years together before her passing on August 14, 2005. Ronald remained a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church throughout his life.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, loyalty, and the simple joys he found in faith, family, and honest work. Ronald loved spending his time fishing at his brother’s home in Brady, NE.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty J. Kort; one sister; sister-in-law, Nancy Kort; and nephew, Tim Schnackenberg.
