Rosalyn Mae "Rose" Fox

Hastings resident Rosalyn Mae “Rose” Fox, 78, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.    

Rosary will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday, November 16, at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 17, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday, November 17, at Minden Cemetery in Minden. Visitation will be 1-5:30 p.m. with the family present 4:30-5:30 p.m., Thursday, November 16, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia Catholic Church. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Rose was born May 3, 1945, in Hastings, NE to Harry and Viola (Christensen) Schmidt. She graduated from Hastings High School and attended nursing school at Mary Lanning Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1983 with an RN degree. Rose married Marvin Gilbert in 1964; they later divorced. Rose married Daniel Fox on May 28, 1988.

Rose worked at Mary Lanning Healthcare for 20 years as an ICU and surgical nurse. She left Mary Lanning Healthcare for the State of Nebraska Regional Center until the psychiatric program closed. Rose was a nursing supervisor for many programs at the Regional Center. She later transferred to the Nebraska State Veteran’s Home in Grand Island where she was a nursing supervisor until that program moved to Kearney. Rose then joined her husband at the Adolescent Drug and Alcohol program in Hastings where she was an RN. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Rose was lovingly best known as the cake and pie lady at St. Cecilia.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Christi Mae Gilbert; and son, Doug Gilbert.
