Hastings resident, Russell G. Parks, 84, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Wednesday, June 15, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Chaplain (LTC) James P. Cooke USA (RET) officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2011; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present, and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family.

Russell was born February 8, 1927 in Giltner, Nebraska to George W. & Bernice M. (Toland) Parks. He served with the U.S. Navy from November 10, 1944-November 24, 1947 and September 29, 1949-September 25, 1953. Russell married Shirley Lucht on November 13, 1954 in Hastings, Nebraska. He worked as a union carpenter. Russell was a life member of the V.F.W., D.A.V., and Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Dale.
